BLT Report #9 – DQ Build Log #1

More than 9 months ago, we released the last edition of the BLT Reports. A lot of things have changed and will continue to change.

Normally we look back at the events in the previous released BLT report, but this time we are skipping this tradition. In this version we want to look forward at the future of STNET.

On 2014-03-24, F.Productions released a news article containing the resent events in the restructuring process of the company. Here some STNET related quotes from that article:
– “F.Productions will continue the development of the next generation of STNET.”
– “STNET – DQ will get its own website engine.”
– “STNET – DQ is still scheduled for the summer of this year (2014).”

This is great news for the STNET team inside F.Productions. Currently we are still in the design process of STNET – DQ. This means we are running a little behind schedule. Our current projections sets us on a release date in the second half of the summer.

The reason for this small delay is the quality of work we want to deliver to our viewers. STNET – Project V had a great functional design, this level of design we have to reached with the new STNET – DQ design. STNET – DQ will also be designed according to the “responsive” internet standard currently used by many professional websites.

A responsive design means that STNET – DQ will visually scale down when the site is visited by means of a tablet and/or smartphone (mobile phone). Something that is not possible with the current Project V design.

Design?
STNET – DQ will be based on the LCARS computer design created by scenic art supervisor and technical consultant Michael Okuda. The reason why we have chosen to use this design is due to several reasons:
– The LCARS design is a 100% Star Trek design
– LCARS was built as a clean design that brings the content to front
– Something that we as a team always wanted to use as a design

More information (included preview images) will be released in the upcoming weeks/months.

This is all the information for this BLT Report. Just keep the BLT reports on your radar. All the information about the website rebuild will be released in these BLT Reports.
