10th Anniversary: Partner Special – Aquilo Media

Aquilo Media, one of our partners for the STNET website. Aquilo Media was responsible for the functional build of STNET – Project V back in 2008/2009. Currently the maintenance of this engine is in the hands of F.Productions. But Aquilo Media is still present as a consulting partner.

In the first episode of the “STNET Transponder”, we had an interview with the founder of Aquilo Media, R. Mettes. Here you can read the text-version of this interview:

#1: Can you give us a short introduction to Aquilo Media and what it stands for?
– The name Aquilo Media stands for the “Northern wind”, it’s a description given by a Roman writer. Reason behind this name is that I live in the North of Holland (Dutch: Noord-Holland), so that’s why the Aquilo Media name was chosen.

The company itself is just a brand for my hobby. I’m just hobby web designer, creating websites in my free time for different purposes and people. My primary focus is to lean new web design techniques and this is the perfect way to do this.

#2: In 2008 Aquilo Media and F.Productions started their collaboration to build a new STNET website. What was your experience and influence in this project?
– My experience with web designing just started that year, as a developer. So my experience was at a beginners level, but it was enough to build the basic engine for STNET – Project V. All the articles, news and poll pages are all running in a database (MySQL) environment, and that was a first in the STNET history.

F.Productions was responsible for the graphic layout and design of STNET – Project V, and Aquilo Media for all the behind the scenes coding, storage, page-handling, etc.

#3: At that time, did you had any ideas where STNET would be in about 4 years?
– No, I’m not a very good future planner. So I had no idea where we will end up or be in this moment in time. It’s a big surprise for me, STNET grew so big since the time that Project V was launched. Great!

#4: Now almost 4 years later, what do you think about STNET as it is now?
It’s a very good site with a lot of different information on it. Also the site is very good up-to-date, every week you can see something changing on the website.

F.Productions would like to thank Aquilo Media for their wonderful support during the Project V version of STNET. This was not possible with Aquilo Media their help!
