This will be a daily release until the 22nd of September. Follow these releases by our RSS feed or Facebook page. A daily visit to our website is also an option.

The Wednesday Edition:
We are going to take a break from the STNET website itself and going to focus on the content for this edition of the History Files.

You could say that STNET was the same as any other Star Trek fan site. STNET had only one difference called: Mini-sites. Mini websites are focused on one topic and located in the STNET site itself. STNET released 5 of these sites:
– September 2nd 2002: Voyager’s Goodbye
– January 19th 2004: Enterprise – A life time Story
– May 2nd 2004: Voyager’s Goodbye *The Return*
– June 14th 2005: Bio-neural Circuitry
– November 20th 2005: Enterprise – The Final Chapter

These sites are STILL ONLINE, you can find them in our “About” section (Note: these Mini-sites are written in Dutch). But here we going to explain the story behind the 5 Mini-sites:

– Voyager’s Goodbye and Voyager’s Goodbye *The Return*
This Mini-site was originally released on the prequel website Look a Look.tk in 2002. With the change from Look a Look.tk to STNET, Voyager’s Goodbye was taken offline. 2 years later when STNET was running for more than one year, the STNET team decided to bring this mini site back.

The mini-site was renamed as “Voyager’s Goodbye *The Return*”. This was not simply the original version of Voyager’s Goodbye, but an updated to current (current as in 2004) standards version.

– Enterprise – A life time Story
A mini-site to celebrate Episode 1 of Enterprise (later renamed, Star Trek: Enterprise) in the Netherlands. This mini-site contained all the known information about the 5th new Star Trek series: Enterprise. The design of this website was based on the computer displays on the U.S.S. Enterprise NX-01.

– Bio-neural Circuitry
Simply put, this was a school project for the webmaster about the U.S.S. Voyager’s Bio-neural Circuitry computer network. Originally this was only a PowerPoint presentation, but with a few tweaks this was changed into a mini-site.

– Enterprise – The Final Chapter
This conclusion to the Star Trek Enterprise series and mini-sites in its current form. The mini-site was created with a tribute in mind for the Star Trek Enterprise cast. The early cancellation of the series was also a disappointment for the STNET team. The basic design concept was a “upgraded version” of the “A life time Story”-mini-site.

This min-site was the first (and last) mini-site completely created with Adobe’s Flash Player for internet browsers. The design was again based on the Enterprise computer system, only this time with 3 different moving display-screes. Also the content of the mini-site was upgraded to the lasted Enterprise Season 4) standards.

——

Now you know the story’s behind our mini-sites. “Enterprise – The Final Chapter” was the final released mini-site by STNET. It was until STNET – Project V when the mini-site made its return in a slightly different concept.

Instead of mini-sites, the new name “Special Pages” was introduced to the STNET – Project V portfolio. A dedicated and special designed page containing the released news articles related to the Special Page subject. Basically a mini-site with news articles instead of crew, ship and technology information.

The following Special Pages are released by STNET – Project V:
– March 15th 2009: Star Trek: XI
– July 16th 2009: Star Trek Online
– April 30th 2012: Star Trek: XII – Into Darkness

These Special Pages are located in the News Archive section of STNET – Project V.

Image 1: This was the original sketch for “Voyager’s Goodbye *The Return*”
Image 2: The end result
Image 3: Main menu of the “Enterprise – The Final Chapter” mini-site
Image 4: The original sketch for the “Star Trek: Online” Special Page on STNET – Project V

The STNET History Files, a special segment with never seen before images and stories of the STNET history.
